Installation and Operation Instructions

1. Be sure the refrigerator door closes properly and the door seals are in good condition.

2. Place Fridge Guardian at the front of the lower shelf on the door hinge side. Do not place any items in front of the unit.

3. Run the power cord across the door gasket near the door hinge and verify the door closes properly. Masking tape can be used to secure the power cord if needed.

4. Use an outdoor extension cord if necessary to reach a 120VAC GFI protected outlet.

5. Turn the power switch to FREEZE PROTECT.

Note: The unit will not turn on unless the temperature is below freezing.

Proper Installation

Operational Test

Move the power switch to HEATER TEST. The Fan and Heater will turn on continuously. Caution: Do not leave in this position with refrigerator door closed, as excess warming will occur.

To verify that the thermostat is working properly, move the power switch to FREEZE PROTECT. Place the unit in the freezer compartment and close the door. The heater should turn on within a few minutes. The unit should then turn off shortly after it is removed from the freezer.

Safety Instructions

1. Plug unit into GFI protected outlet.

2. Do not allow any liquids to spill on the unit. If liquid does enter the unit, unplug and allow to dry before use.

3. Do not block air intake on top of the unit.

4. Do not use with damaged power cord or if the unit has been damaged in any manner.

5. Use this device only as described. Any other use is not recommended.

Freezer operation during the winter

With or without Fridge Guardian, food should not be stored in the freezer during the winter.

Most household refrigerators have only one thermostat located in the refrigerator compartment. Proper freezer temperature relys on the periodic compressor operation that is required to keep the refrigerator cold in a room temperature environment.  Once the outside temperature drops below 55 F, the compressor does not run often enough to maintain proper freezer temperature. This will cause the freezer to warm up resulting in thawing and refreezeing cycles.
